I keep my favorite Micron drawing pens in an old cigar box along with some India ink and my watercolors. Screen-printed and stenciled, the larger of my two sketchbooks features a vintage snake-and-bird pattern that I glued to the cover, and wouldn’t you know, creatures big and small crowd the rumpled pages. When [...] My shop is officially open for business! — Phase one has begun. Or maybe this is phase two? Regardless, I am taking orders, and I can’t tell you how excited I was to package up my first few shipments today. Thank you to those of you who bought one (or two!) [...] I’ve been quite productive lately, traveling between the boat (MD), my parents’ house (VA), and my grandparents’ house (NC), with a whirlwind trip to NYC somewhere in the midst of it all. The logistics of it would make your head spin, so I will spare you the details. I spent necessary time at my parents’ [...] Reunited with my press at last! Since I wasn’t able to locate suitable studio space in Annapolis fast enough, I set up shop in my parents’ garage. I found a little space amidst the cobwebs, strung a line across the garage door, and clamped my press to some scrap wood upheld between two saw horses. [...] It seems that the hours of studio time I put in last fall are beginning to pay off now. After just three weeks here, my hand-printed osprey and sea turtle tees are on sale at Vivo Boutique, an eco-friendly boutique supporting local artists and designers in Annapolis. I’ve also met a group of hip young [...] south that is. Now that I am officially out of my studio (and it’s actually getting cold), I’m devoting my attention and labors towards the boat to help Brian get her ready to sail again. Right now, he is still sanding and painting the deck, but once that is done, we will need to put [...] Thanks to all who came to my open studio event. We had a great turnout, in fact it was pretty crowded, and Chuck and Andrew put on a great performance. Thank you guys! I also had help from a couple of my other friends, Sarah and Katherine. Thanks to Sarah for helping me hang the [...] As you have probably noticed, I’ve gotten a little behind on my studio updates, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been productive. I’ve been managing my schedule well and have been spending about six hours a day in there. The big news is that I finished my bee painting. It came along much faster than [...] First of all, I would like to dedicate this post to my trusty old Toyota Camry, may she rest in peace. Last Sunday morning, she (and I) were involved in a car accident at an intersection (we were t-boned by a man who ran a red light) downtown.
